Civil Little River
Westlake Punnett & Associates Pty Ltd were engaged by Soil Conservation Service NSW to provide Civil and Structural Engineering design for a proposed bed-level crossing at Little River, Thirlmere within the Nattai National Park. Following large rainfall events, the previous river crossing at Little River had washed away and as aresult had cut-off an important fire-trail within the Nattai National Park. The projecthas been flagged as one requiring fish passage and as such, DPI involvement throughout the project was required.
Our involvement included the following:
- Review of DPI information regarding fish-passages for bed-level crossings.
- Meetings with National Parks, DPI Fisheries and Soil Conservation representatives.
- Hydrological catchment analysis using HEC-RAS.
- Design of 60m long reinforced concrete bed level crossing.
- Inspections during construction.
- Respond to RFI’s during construction.
- Certification of the as-constructed bed-level crossing.
