Westlake Punnett & Associates Pty Ltd were engaged by Crown Lands to bring Dix’s Wharf from preliminary design to construction. This project involved creating a functional public space with close consultation with community members where the number one priority was not to lose the history of the area.

Dix’s wharf refurbishment involved the jetty replacement along with new retaining walls, a new boat ramp, a new shared path and landscaped picnic space. Key aspects shaped through community consultation include retaining the shape of the existing jetty, retaining the existing piers and ensuring the historical train tracks were re-established in the new space.

The final design is a beautiful integrated jetty along Lake Illawarra that locals appreciate with minimal impacts on the existing space.
